There needs to be sufficient clearance to allow the automated collection arm to safely pick up the carts without damaging other property and three (3) feet is the minimum required clearance.
To recycle your old bins, simply place them into your recycling cart. You may also keep your recycling bins to use around the home or for yard waste. However, the bins cannot be used for recycling.

The non-collection notices provide information about proper placement of carts, yard waste, and bulk waste.

Previously, many residents disposed of their yard waste with their garbage. Collecting yard waste separately from the garbage allows residents to reserve capacity in the garbage carts for their garbage that is generated within the home. Additionally, yard waste is less expensive than garbage and bulk to dispose of but needs to be collected separately in order to realize those savings.
Yard waste is less expensive than garbage and bulk to dispose of but needs to be collected separately in order to realize those savings. To fully benefit from the separate weekly yard waste collection, yard waste will no longer be collected with bulk.
This applies only to small size yard waste (grass clippings, leaves, tree/plant trimmings, etc.). These items can be placed either in a clear bag or directly into your personal garbage can. This allows Waste Management to ensure that only yard waste is being collected.
Other types of waste like garbage and bulk contaminate the yard waste. Contaminated loads of yard waste will be processed as garbage which will negate the advantage of collecting the yard waste separately.

Yes, water meter readings may be estimated if the meter stops registering usage or if the meter is inaccessible, such as when a vehicle is parked over the meter; broken glass; condensation; or during times of flooding/ storm situations. On these occasions, the billing software estimates usage. NOTE: The property owner is responsible for providing clear access to the meter.
If a high water bill is received, verify the reading on the meter to the reading on the bill. If the reading on the water meter is lower than the current reading on the utility bill, the meter may have been misread, contact Utility Billing to have the bill corrected. The meter can also be used to determine if there is a leak. Click here for more information regarding leak detection.
If the property is vacant or the hose spigot is accessible, theft may be occurring. The City recommends purchasing locks for all hose spigots to prevent possible theft of water. Locks can be purchased at any hardware store. If the property will be vacant for a long period of time, request a temporary disconnection of service at the meter. This will ensure no water usage. There is a $10 service charge and the request must be made in writing. The monthly basic availability charge for all services still applies.
