Margate Police Department Introduces SmartWater CSI Pilot Program
The Margate Police Department is partnering with Broward Crime Stoppers and SmartWater CSI to introduce the SmartWater asset protection system.
SmartWater is a clear liquid which contains a unique forensic code. The liquid can be used as a spray to target intruders or it can be applied to items of value, particularly items targeted for theft. This includes personal, commercial, and industrial items. The liquid is robust, can endure all weather conditions, and is guaranteed to last a minimum of five years.
The non-hazardous liquid leaves behind an identifying mark that is only visible under an ultraviolet black light. Each bottle of SmartWater contains the owner’s unique formula (PIN) which is logged in a database. This will assist police departments in identifying the owner of recovered property.
The Margate Police Department is always seeking new and innovative ways to help deter crime and welcomes this cutting-edge technology from SmartWater CSI. Embracing new technology allows the police department to further its mission to protect the lives, property and rights of the people within our community, as well as providing them with a safe place to live and work.
Initially, SmartWater CSI will be introduced to the Coral Bay Community as a pilot program. Residents who reside within this community are invited to the launch which is scheduled for Saturday, May 3, 2014 from 10:00 a.m to 2:00 p.m at the Coral Bay ClubHouse, located at 3101 South Bay Drive, in the City of Margate. Residents must provide a driver’s license or a utility bill with a Coral Bay address in order to participate in the program. A limited supply of the SmartWater product will be available free to Coral Bay residence.
