City of Margate and Broward County Celebrate Earth Day by Holding Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Collection Event
MARGATE, FL – (March 4, 2014) City of Margate residents and residents of participating Broward County cities can celebrate Earth Day early by properly disposing their household hazardous waste and electronics at a free collection event. The event will take place Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Oriole Park (7055 NW 1st Street) from 8 A.M. to 3 P.M. All accepted items will be recycled or disposed of properly.
Items accepted at the collection event include household chemicals, cleaning solutions, aerosols, paint, oil, solvents, pesticides, herbicides, pool chemicals, vehicle fluids, mercury thermometers, propane tanks, fire extinguishers, fluorescent bulbs, compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs), TVs, computers, monitors, printers, fax machines, cell phones, home phones, wire, DVD players, rechargeable batteries, and tires (limit 4).
Items not accepted include explosives, flares, ammunition, bio-hazardous waste, medical waste, appliances, microwaves, shavers, sewing machines, and business or commercial generated waste.
Proof of Margate residency, or residency from another participating city, is required. This includes a photo ID and one of the following (with matching address): a utility bill, vehicle registration, a trim notice/tax bill, or the household hazardous waste event calendar mailed by Broward County. Addresses on both proofs of residency must match.
