General Information

The Margate Fire Department covers the City of Margate and the City of Coconut Creek. Margate has a population of 52,523 and is 9.17 square miles with over 2400 businesses. The city of Coconut Creek is 14 square miles with a population of 45,000. The department consists of 7 administrative positions, 101 support personnel and 2 civilian employees. The city holds an ISO fire rating of "3".

The department has 4 stations and operates 1 ladder company, 3 ALS engine companies, and 5 full time rescue units. These units responded to 14,779 incidents in 2002. The department has a 1 tier rescue system, in which medical patients are treated and transported by the department. We also have a dive rescue team that responds to water emergencies in the many canals, lakes and waterways within the city.
