How to tell if service is scheduled for disconnection:
If there is a past due balance on the current bill, a notice will print on the right side of the bill under the Date Due for Current Charges advising of the disconnection date. Payment must be received prior to 7:45am on date of disconnection to avoid the $40 late charge. The late charge applies whether service is physically disconnected or not.
How to get water restored:
During regular business hours:
If service is interrupted, you can make a minimum payment of the past due balance and the $40 late charge prior to 5:30 (If payments are made after 5:30, service is restored the next business day) at:
City of Margate
5790 Margate Blvd
Margate, FL 33063
*If payment is made on the City website, contact customer service at (954) 972-6454 with the account number and authorization number to get service restored. It is not automatic.
Restoration of service is done between 2pm and 6pm.
Please make sure all the water faucets inside your house are off. If water is running inside and no one is home, service will not be restored to avoid flooding and an additional fee may be charged when restoration is requested.
During non-business hours and weekends:
If service was interrupted and it is after regular business hours, contact Department of Engineering (DEES) (954) 972-0828. A minimum payment of the past due plus the $40 late charge and a $50 after hour service charge will need to be paid in order to have service restored. Payment will be collected by the technician prior to service being restored. Checks, money orders or a hardcopy receipt from the City web site are acceptable forms of payment.
Restorations are done Monday through Thursday 7pm to 10pm, Fridays 4pm to 7pm and Saturdays 12pm to 3pm.
