MARGATE, FL - November 20, 2012 - The City of Margate is excited to
introduce a new way to recycle with rollout recycling carts and recycling
rewards. The new carts will hold much more recyclable materials and will
make it easier to bring recyclables to the curb. Residents on the City of
Margate Recycling Program with curbside recycling will soon begin receiving new
rollout recycling carts. Deliveries will begin on November 26, 2012 and will
take approximately three weeks to complete.
The new
recycling carts will replace the existing recycling bins. Residents should
begin using their carts immediately as they will no longer be able to use their
existing bins. For those wishing to recycle their current bins, place the
bins out on the first recycling day after the cart is received to have the bins
collected and recycled.
Along with the new recycling carts the City is also launching the Recyclebank rewards program. As part of the Recyclebank rewards program, registered participants can earn points for green actions like recycling. The points can then be redeemed for discounts and deals from local and national businesses. Registration with Recyclebank is required to receive rewards. Information on how to register will be mailed to residents in the coming weeks.
The new rollout recycling carts, along with the Recyclebank program,
bring an exciting change to the City of Margate Recycling Program. The
City looks forward to increased participation and enthusiasm for recycling from
residents. For more information on the City of Margate Recycling Program
please visit www.margatefl.com/recycling, call
the Department of Environmental and Engineering Services at (954) 972-0828, or

CITY OF MARGATE EMPLOYEE BLOOD DRIVE
Wednesday, May 29, 2013
Locations:
DEES (Environmental Services) • 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Public Works • 1:30 pm - 4:15 pm
Step 1: Sign up for a location and time at 954-972-6454 – City Hall Front Desk
Step 2: Prepare for your donation.
For a week or so before you donate, eat healthy, iron-rich meals. The iron in your blood helps transport oxygen and promotes healing throughout your body. Try to avoid fatty foods since they can interfere with proper testing.
Step 3: On donation day wear a shirt that has sleeves that can be rolled up comfortably, eat a substantial breakfast, lunch and dinner, drink at least 16 ounces of water at least an hour before and after you donate, and follow the post-donation directions closely. These include abstaining from smoking, liquor, heavy lifting and rigorous exercise. Remember to bring your ID, a list of all the medications you are taking, and maybe a friend to make donating twice as fun.
Reward yourself with an iron-rich meal afterwards. It takes your body approximately two weeks to replace all of the blood that you shared to save a life.
Step 4: Say to yourself “I did it! I saved up to three lives with my donation!”
Enjoy the feeling that you have had such a profound impact on another human being in your community. You just exercised your amazing power to save lives!
