Margate and Waste Management to Host Household Hazardous Waste & Electronics Collection Event

City of Margate residents can properly dispose of their household hazardous waste and old electronics and have documents shredded at the Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Collection Event. The event, hosted in partnership with Waste Management, will take place on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Oriole Park (7055 NW 1st Street) from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. All accepted items will be recycled, shredded and/or disposed of properly.
Items accepted at the collection event include household chemicals, cleaning solutions, aerosols, paint, oil, solvents, pesticides, herbicides, pool chemicals, vehicle fluids, mercury thermometers, propane tanks, fire extinguishers, fluorescent bulbs, compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs), TVs, computers, monitors, printers, fax machines, cell phones, home phones, wire, DVD players, rechargeable batteries, and tires (limit 4).
Items not accepted include explosives, bio-hazardous waste, medical waste, appliances, microwaves, shavers, sewing machines, and business or commercial generated waste.
Secure document shredding will also be available during the event. Margate residents may bring up to three (3) standard letter size boxes of documents for shredding. There will be a minimal charge for shredding additional documents.
Proof of residency from a participating city is required. This includes a photo ID and one of the following (with matching address): a utility bill, vehicle registration, or a trim notice/tax bill.
