Superintendent of Wastewater Operations

Under the direction of the Director of Environmental and Engineering Services plans, develops, organizes and directs all activities for wastewater collection, treatment and disposal. Supervision is exercised over key subordinate personnel who in turn are responsible for operations, maintenance and support services. The employee must exercise extensive initiative and independent judgment in solving problems, as they develop in order to maintain the continuous, effective, efficient and safe operation of the facilities. Technical expertise is essential as error in technical judgment could result in extensive damage to the environment, facilities or both. Administrative activities include policy formulation and personnel management. Position exercises a high degree of independent judgment in selection of work methods and procedures, subject to executive directive and review by the director, and local, state and federal requirements pertaining to wastewater operations.
Requirements:
Requires a minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in the operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment and collection system; including at least four (4) years in a supervisory or administrative capacity; plus possession of a State of Florida Class "A" Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators certificate. Graduation from four (4) year college or university with a degree in sanitary, civil or environmental engineering or related field preferred.

Mechanical Plans Examiner/Inspector (PT)

Under general direction is responsible for inspecting buildings and review of plans for compliance with Florida Building Codes.

Must be certified by the Broward County Board of Rules and Appeals, and must have five (5) years experience in the mechanical discipline in a supervisory capacity, and meet one or more of the following: possess a current Certificate of Competency as a Mechanical Contractor or Class A Air Conditioning Contractor issued by the Florida Construction Industries Board or Broward County Central Examining Board of Mechanical Contractors and Specialty Mechanical Contractors or Dade County Construction Trades Qualifying Board, issued on or after January 1, 1968, or Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation as an Architect or Engineer.
