The object of all traffic related  functions is the suppression of violations identified as contributing factors in traffic crashes and to respond to special traffic related needs in the community.

The Traffic Unit Supervisor reviews all crash reports for the purpose of identifying specific problems in certain areas.  Traffic officers will be assigned to those areas with the goal of suppressing poor driving habits that will reduce crashes and promote highway safety.

The Traffic Unit also receives citizen complaints regarding traffic conditions.  These complaints are investigated through traffic studies and addressed by way of selective traffic enforcement. 

The Traffic Unit also works with Florida Department of Traffic and Broward County Traffic Engineering when traffic concerns fall under their supervision.
