Biography

Mayor Tommy Ruzzano was born and raised in Middlesex County, New Jersey. He has lived in Broward County for over 20 years and in Margate since 2002. He has been married to his wife Amanda since 1998 and has four children: Alina, Thomas Jr., Michael, and Sophia. He is a Margate business owner, a State-licensed General Contractor, and has been involved in building/developing for over 20 years in South Florida. 

He was elected to the Margate City Commission in 2012 and re-elected in 2016 and 2020. During his tenure, he has been appointed by his fellow commissioners as a one-year term Mayor in 2015, 2016, 2019 and 2023.  

He currently serves on the following boards: 

• Margate Community Redevelopment Agency
• Northwest Focal Point Senior Center District

He enjoys spending time with his family and church, loves animals, is a huge sports fan, and enjoys competition.
