Chief Joseph Galaska started his career with the Margate Police Department in 1995. In 1997 he became a Neighborhood Policing Officer and a Bicycle Officer. Two years later he became a Field Training Officer. In 2002 he was promoted to Sergeant and served the Road Patrol Division for five years.
In 2007, Chief Galaska was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and commanded the Neighborhood Policing Division. In 2012, he was re-assigned to Road Patrol for three years, after which he served as the Commander of the Investigative Services Bureau. On February 23, 2019, he was promoted to the rank of Captain and assigned to the Field Services Bureau.
