The Florida Fish an Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and Broward County have teamed up to provide City of Margate residents with an informative "living with coyotes" workshop. Recently, there have been reports of coyote sightings in and around the area of Fern Forest and Southeast Park.
There are preventative measures that both residents and businesses can do to reduce the presence of coyotes in our communities: Do not feed or leave out food for local wildlife (i.e. raccoons, opossums, outdoor cats, etc.), keep yard clear of fruit droppings and secure garbage containers. Cats and small dogs should be kept indoors at all times and dogs should be walked on a leash.
Join us on Wednesday, January 23rd from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Fern Forest Nature Center, 201 S. Lyons Road, to learn more about living with coyotes and the precautions you can take to protect your pets.
