Young Residents Turn Backyards into Native Habitats

Two young Margate residents, Arianna Rosario and Ethan Lawrie, students of South Plantation High School, have worked very hard to turn their backyards into sustainable gardens that help wildlife.

The students have transformed their gardens into friendly habitats for native and migratory wildlife while conserving water and minimizing the use of fertilizers and pesticides. Their homes are now NatureScape certified by the National Wildlife Federation and Broward County’s Community Resilience Department.
