Happy New Year from Your City Commission

Happy New Year! In this first eNewsletter of 2020, we want to wish you the very best in 2020! 


The New Year means new beginnings, and we look forward to a bright future in the City of Margate. This year, we'll continue improving our parks and recreation facilities with the Parks Bond, upgrading our water and sewer infrastructure, and  providing top-notch service to our residents. We wish you good health, prosperity and peace this year and for years to come. Happy New Year!

HHW and Electronics Collection Event on Sunday, Jan. 12th

City of Margate residents can properly dispose of their household hazardous waste and old electronics at the City of Margate and Broward County‚Äôs Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Collection Event.  On Sunday, January 12, 2020, residents can bring their household hazardous waste and old electronics items to Oriole Park, located at 7055 NW 1st Street, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  All accepted items will be recycled or disposed of properly. 

Items accepted at the collection event include household chemicals, cleaning solutions, aerosols, paint, oil, solvents, pesticides, herbicides, pool chemicals, vehicle fluids, mercury thermometers, propane tanks, fire extinguishers, fluorescent bulbs, compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs), TVs, computers, monitors, printers, fax machines, cell phones, home phones, wire, DVD players, rechargeable batteries, and tires (limit 4).

Items not accepted include explosives, bio-hazardous waste, medical waste, appliances, microwaves, shavers, sewing machines, and business or commercial generated waste.  

Proof of residency from a participating city is required.  This includes a photo ID and one of the following (with matching address): a utility bill, vehicle registration, or a trim notice/tax bill.

Movies in the Park on January 25th

Movies in the Park on Jan. 25th

The City's Movies in the Parks series continues on Saturday, January 25th with Toy Story 4. The movie will begin at 6:00 p.m. at the Margate Sports Complex, 1695 Banks Road.


In Toy Story 4, major complications ensue when Bonnie turns a spork into a toy, but he sees himself as an eating utensil instead. Woody, Buzz and co. have to set out into the world to find him, reunite with Bonnie, and resolve his existential crisis.

Upcoming Movies in the Park are as follows:

February 15: The Princess and the Frog

Movies in the Park features free outdoor movie screenings for the entire family. All movies are rated PG. Moviegoers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Food and beverage will be available for purchase.
