State Rep. Anika Omphroy Donating 10K Masks to Margate Residents on Saturday, July 11th

State Representative Anika Omphroy (District 95), along with the Margate Mayor and Commission, will host a free mask giveaway on Saturday, July 11th at 10 a.m. at 5701 Margate Boulevard. The drive-thru mask distribution will conveniently take place at the northwest corner of Margate Boulevard and State Road 7.

State Rep. Omphroy is donating 10,000 reusable face masks to Margate residents. The masks will be distributed by Rep. Omphroy and City Officials on a first come, first served basis in packs of 5. One pack of masks will be placed in the trunk of each car. Residents are asked to bring proof of residency.

This mask giveaway is an effort to help residents comply with the recently implemented Broward County mandate to wear face coverings when in public to slow the spread of COVID-19. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is also recommending that everyone wear a face covering in public, especially when social distancing is difficult to maintain. Temporary Conversion to Free Chlorine Notice

To maintain high water quality in the City’s water distribution system, the City of Margate Water Treatment Plant will change its treatment process temporarily to increase the level of free chlorine disinfection from July 28th through August 18, 2020. This proactive measure prevents bacterial growth in the water mains and keeps the water safe for potable uses. Margate Youth Sports Sponsorship Program

Vouchers Available for Youth Sports Program

Attention Margate Parents! Now is the time to register your child for youth sports. The City Commission recently approved a sponsorship program for kids of Margate residents. The program provides up to $150/child to participate in a sports league/session/class in the 2020/2021 season. Sign up now to receive your registration voucher.

The voucher is valid for one youth sports registration fee or up to $150 in value. Vouchers are redeemable at the time of registration for any of the following programs (not valid for travel teams):

• Margate Youth Baseball/Softball

• Margate Youth Soccer Recreation Season

• Margate Youth Basketball Recreation League

• Margate Motion Swim Team (not valid for Master Swim Program)

• Margate Youth Archery Sessions

• Margate Youth Tennis (Lessons by GSM Tennis only)

• NL Panthers Tackle Football / Cheerleading Recreation
