Plan Now For A Busy Weekend

Saturday, April 28th will be a busy day in the City of Margate. There are several events taking place that you should plan on attending. Here's the rundown:

 
Tree Giveaway

Free Tree Giveaway on April 28th

In celebration of Earth Month, the City of Margate Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring a Free Tree Giveaway for Margate residents only on Saturday, April 28th from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m., while supplies last. The Tree Giveaway will take place at Oriole Park, located at 7055 NW 1st Street.


Over 350 trees will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Each household will receive ONE TREE per residential address. Please bring a photo ID and proof of Margate residency. For more information, go to margatefl.com or call (954) 972-6458.

 
Prescription Drug Take Back

Prescription Drug Take-Back Set for April 28th

The Margate Police Department, in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), will host the annual Prescription Drug Take-Back from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 28th at Walgreens, located at 3000 N. State Road 7. Walgreens will provide everyone who drops off unwanted medication with a 15% store coupon valid for use on the same day at this location only. 

Open to the public, this free event allows participants to safely dispose of unused, expired and unwanted medications in its original container with the prescription label removed. Acceptable medications include prescription and over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and pet medicine. 

Needles, thermometers, chemotherapy or radioactive substances, oxygen containers, pressurized containers, inhalers, illicit drugs, and liquid medications are NOT ACCEPTED.

Household Hazardous Waste & Electronics Collection, Document Shredding Event 

On Saturday, April 28th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Margate residents can dispose of unwanted household hazardous waste and discard old electronic equipment free of charge. The Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Collection Event will take place at Oriole Park, 7055 NW 1st Street. Secure document shredding will also be available. Proof of residency is required.
