Hurricane Preparedness

Get Hurricane Ready

Hurricane season is officially here, and you should be prepared before the threat of a storm is forecast. Here are some things you can do now in preparation of hurricane season:

1) Test your generator to make sure it's operating properly.

2) Trim your trees as soon as possible to avoid having vegetative debris curbside immediately before a storm threatens.

3) Discard any unwanted bulky items like lawn care products and patio furniture that may become flying objects during a major storm.

Last year, as Hurricane Irma approached our area, residents in Margate (and all throughout South Florida) rushed to discard more garbage and bulk trash than usual - causing a significant delay in garbage pick-up by Waste Management and other haulers. Let's work together this year so that we all can have a safe hurricane season. For more hurricane preparedness tips, go to margatefl.com/hurricaneprep.
