New Collection Guidelines

NEW! Weekly Commingled Bulk and Yard Waste Collection

NEW COLLECTION GUIDELINES! Bulk and yard waste are now collected together once per week on your first garbage collection day.

For example, if your garbage is collected on Monday and Thursday, your bulk and yard waste will be collected on Mondays.

Personal containers will no longer be allowed for collection. Yard waste must be placed in clear plastic bags, or loose at the curb. For a detailed list of guidelines, go to margatefl.com/bulkandyardwaste.

Sounds at Sundown continues this Saturday, January 5th, with The Samantha Russell Band. The free event takes place from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the corner of Margate Boulevard and State Road 7.

Enjoy live music, activities for the kids, food trucks serving up delicious snacks, meals and desserts, full bar, and vendors! Bring your lawn chairs and blankets, and plan to spend the evening dancing and singing under the stars.

Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Collection on January 13

HHW and Electronics Collection Event on Sunday, January 13th

City of Margate residents along with residents from other participating Broward County municipalities can properly dispose of their household hazardous waste and old electronics at the City of Margate and Broward County‚Äôs Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Collection Event. On Sunday, January 13, 2019, residents can bring their household hazardous waste and old electronic items to Oriole Park, located at 7055 NW 1st Street, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. All accepted items will be recycled or disposed of properly. 

Items accepted at the collection event include household chemicals, cleaning solutions, aerosols, paint, oil, solvents, pesticides, herbicides, pool chemicals, vehicle fluids, mercury thermometers, propane tanks, fire extinguishers, fluorescent bulbs, compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs), TVs, computers, monitors, printers, fax machines, cell phones, home phones, wire, DVD players, rechargeable batteries, and tires (limit 4).

Items not accepted include explosives, bio-hazardous waste, medical waste, appliances, microwaves, shavers, sewing machines, and business or commercial generated waste. Document shredding will NOT be available at this event. 

Proof of residency from a participating city is required. This includes a photo ID and one of the following (with matching address): a utility bill, vehicle registration, or a trim notice/tax bill.
