Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Shooting Commemoration

MSD Commemoration on Feb. 14th

Join us on Thursday, February 14th at 2:21 p.m. to commemorate the one year anniversary of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas shooting. 

To honor the 17 lives lost, their families and everyone whose lives forever changed on February 14th last year, the City will be ringing the City’s Clock Tower bells in Downtown Margate. The bells will sound 17 times beginning at 2:21 p.m., the time the gunman entered the school building, followed by a moment of silence. After the moment of silence, the bells will sound again 17 times at 2:28 p.m., the time the gunman ran from the school building.

The public is invited to join City staff at the clock tower (Margate Boulevard and N.W. 58th Avenue) for this commemoration. #MSDStrong

Have Coffee With a Cop on Feb. 18th

Celebrate President’s Day by enjoying a cup of coffee with the Margate Police Department for the first Coffee with a Cop of 2019! This event will be held on Monday, February 18th from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Starbucks located at ?6700 W. Atlantic Blvd.

The mission of MPD’s Coffee With a Cop is to break down barriers between police officers and the citizens that we serve! It is an easy way to bring our community members together –over coffee– to discuss issues and learn more about each other! So come on out and have a cup of coffee (hot or cold!) and let's get to know each other! The atmosphere is relaxed and the conversations are real. We look forward to having a coffee and sharing an amazing morning with you!

 
Broward County Waterway Clean Up on March 2nd

Volunteers Needed for Waterway Cleanup on March 2nd

Volunteers are needed for the Broward County Waterway Cleanup that's coming to the City of Margate's Veterans Park on Saturday, March 2nd. The Cleanup event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and volunteers will be provided with garbage bags, gloves, a t-shirt and tickets to trash bash after-party event.

The Broward County Waterway Cleanup is organized by the Marine Industries Association of South Florida to help ensure that both the community as a whole and the marine industry could enjoy our local waterways. This year is the first time the Cleanup is being held in Margate. Volunteer service hours are available for participating students. Movies in the Park on Feb. 23rd

The City of Margate Parks and Recreation Department's Movies in the Park Series continues with Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation.

In the movie, the monster family embarks on a vacation on a luxury monster cruise ship so Drac can take a summer vacation from providing everyone else's vacation at the hotel, and they indulge in all of the shipboard fun the cruise has to offer.

Movies in the Park features free outdoor movie screenings for the entire family. Moviegoers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Food and beverage will be available for purchase.
