Take a Bike Ride on March 23rd to Celebrate Florida Bicycle Month

The City of Margate is inviting residents to celebrate Florida Bicycle Month with a bike ride along the Broward County Cypress Greenway Trail (C-14 Canal) on Saturday, March 23rd.

WHO: City of Margate “Neighbors Meeting Neighbors” Program

WHAT: Florida Bicycle Month Bike Ride

Margate Police Department will provide bicycle safety information, and assist with crossing bicyclists across Rock Island Road.

WHEN: March 23, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

WHERE: Meet at Veterans Memorial Park 
7044 NW 1st Street, Margate, FL 33063

WHY: Celebrate Florida Bicycle Month. This event will highlight the Broward County Cypress Greenway Trail, a public amenity, and educate Margate residents on safe bicycle friendly areas located in the city of Margate.

Neighbors Meeting Neighbors is a program coordinated by the City of Margate Parks and Recreation Department that invites residents to build connections among their neighbors and spark discussion through common interests.

Dive-In Movie Night on March 23rd

Dive-In Movie Night is This Saturday

Hang out, relax or splash around in the lap pool while watching the movie "Ralph Breaks the Internet."

Join us for the Dive in Movie on Saturday, March 23rd  from 7 to 10 p.m. at Calypso Cove, 6200 Royal Palm Boulevard. Hot dogs, chips and drinks will be available for purchase. Admission for residents is $2/person ages 4 and older, $1 for children 3 and under. For more information, please call (954) 974-4566. 


2019 Academic Scholarship Deadline March 24th

The City of Margate, in partnership with Waste Management, presents the 8th Annual Margate Academic Scholarship Program for students who live within the City limits. This scholarship honors one male and one female student for their academic excellence and helps them achieve their dreams of attending college with less financial burden. 

Started in 2012, the Margate Academic Scholarship Program was created to foster the educational opportunities for Margate students and encourage them to pursue paths that support government and civic endeavors. Graduating high school or college-enrolled students who are interested in applying for this one-time $2,500 scholarship, should download, complete and submit the scholarship application no later than Friday, May 24th at 6 p.m. to the Margate Parks and Recreation Department at 6199 NW 10th Street. Eligibility Requirements:
1. Current Margate resident
2. Core weighted GPA of 3.50 (minimum)
3. Community Service (minimum of 40 hours)
4. Education or professional path of government or non-profit service

Award Criteria - including but not limited to:
1. Community Service
2. Personal Essay (no more than 600 words)
3. Weighted GPA
4. Financial Need
