Walking Audit is tomorrow, May 23rd at 5 p.m.

Join Us for the Walking Audit 

TOMORROW! The Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization is hosting a Walkability Workshop and Community Walking Audit tomorrow evening (Thursday, May 23rd) along Margate's Southgate Boulevard. Walk with us to evaluate this corridor from the user’s perspective and help us identify ways to improve it. Meet at 5 p.m. at Galaxy Skateway, 7500 Southgate Boulevard. • We will walk a short distance. 
• Please wear comfortable clothing, shoes and be prepared for the weather (with umbrella, sunglasses, etc.). 
• After the walking audit, we will serve refreshments and discuss our collective findings.

Memorial Day on May 27th

Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 27th at Veterans Memorial Park

Join the City of Margate for one of its most popular events, the annual Memorial Day Ceremony. City officials, residents and members of the Armed Forces will come together on Monday, May 27th at 9 a.m. to honor the men and women who have paid the ultimate price for our country. 

The Ceremony will take place at Veterans Memorial Park, which is located at 7044 N.W. 1st Street (S.E. corner of Rock Island Road and N.W. 1st Street). 

The Memorial Day ceremony will include the Presentation of Colors and the National Anthem, a keynote address by a representative of the United States Armed Forces, a Presentation of Awards to our elementary school essay contest winners, a live band, rifle salute, the playing of “Taps”, and complimentary refreshments.

Deadline for Margate Academic Scholarship is May 24th

Academic Scholarship Deadline is Friday, May 24th

The deadline for the City's annual academic scholarship is this Friday, May 24th. To apply, download the application online at margatefl.com/scholarship.

The City of Margate, in partnership with Waste Management, offers a $2,500 scholarship to students who live within the City limits. This scholarship honors one male and one female student for their academic excellence. 

Graduating high school or college-enrolled students who are interested in applying for this one-time $2,500 scholarship, should download, complete and submit the scholarship application no later than Friday, May 24th at 6 p.m. to the Margate Parks and Recreation Department at 6199 NW 10th Street.

Sounds at Sundown is June 1st

Sounds at Sundown continues on Saturday, June 1st with The Groove band and a host of food trucks!

Sounds at Sundown is a monthly concert series that takes place on the first Saturday of the month from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the corner of Margate Boulevard and 441. Enjoy activities for the kids, food trucks, a full bar, arts and crafts vendors and live music!

The Groove is a  popular band known for playing the best funk and dance music. They'll take the stage from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets.
