Sales Tax Holiday Ends Tomorrow, June 6th

The 2019 Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday was passed by the Florida Legislature and signed into law by Governor Ron DeSantis. This sales tax holiday runs from Friday, May 31, 2019 through Thursday, June 6, 2019.

During this sales tax holiday period, qualifying items related to disaster preparedness are exempt from sales tax. However, the sales tax holiday does not apply to the rental or repair of any of the qualifying items. Additionally, the sales tax holiday does not apply to sales in a theme park, entertainment complex, public lodging establishment or airport.

Summer Boom Health Expo on June 19th

Summer Boom Health Fair 

The Northwest Focal Point Senior Center will host the 2019 Summer Boom Health Expo from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19th. This free expo will take place at 6009 NW 10th Street in the City of Margate.

The event is open to the public.  The annual Summer Boom Health Expo provides older adults and caregivers with important information about aging, health, and safety and communications needs to plan for their future. Fitness demonstrations and raffles will take place throughout the event.

Participants will learn about free and paid services for senior citizens, retirement facilities in the area, hurricane preparedness, Broward County’s 211 Program, transportation options and more. A variety of doctor representatives with various specialties will provide information about their services. Biometrics screenings will be done by Baptist Health. More than 25 vendors are currently registered to participate.

4th of July

4th of July Parade Application Available 

It's time to register to be a part of the annual 4th of July Parade - one of the City's most popular events. Download the application now!

Beginning at 9:00 a.m., a sea of red, white and blue will parade down Margate Boulevard eastbound from 76th Avenue to Margate City Hall. Awards will be given to a private business, non-profit organization and a Margate family. Immediately following the parade, the MCRA will provide post-parade refreshments and bounce houses at the NW corner of Margate Boulevard & SR 7.

Hosted by the City of Margate and the Margate Community Redevelopment Agency (MCRA), the 4th of July Extravaganza is an all-day, family-friendly event that includes a pool party, concert and an amazing fireworks display.
