Hurricane Dorian Churns in the Atlantic

Hurricane Dorian Advisory

Hurricane Dorian is churning in the Atlantic towards the U.S. and British Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.

As of 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, August 28th, forecasters are predicting that Hurricane Dorian will hit the east coast of Florida as a Category 3 storm. Landfall is anticipated for Sunday/Monday.

As the storm brews in the Atlantic, the possibility of us experiencing tropical storm or hurricane conditions along with storm surge have increased. Residents should continue to monitor Hurricane Dorian and stock up on items for your hurricane survival kit. For a list of items, go to the Hurricane Shopping Guide.

Residents must still adhere to the regular collection schedule and guidelines regarding sanitation services. Please DO NOT trim your trees and landscaping if your collection service has already happened for the week. As a reminder, professional tree trimmers are required to remove any debris they create. It's also a good idea to start securing any loose items around your property.

Please continue to monitor local media for the latest news on Hurricane Dorian.

Not sure when your collection takes place? Check the collection schedule map here: https://margate.maps.arcgis.com/apps/PublicInformation/index.html?appid=686a6cdbefed402abf9aeeee7e165793
