Join the Margate Police and Fire Rescue Departments for the Second Annual Trunk or Treat on Thursday, October 31st from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at City Hall, 5790 Margate Boulevard.

Trick-or-treating is a fun and exciting time for our children, and as parents, we should do all we can to ensure a safe and happy experience. Here are some simple tips to follow:

Instead of wearing a mask that can obstruct vision, apply nontoxic face paints on your little monster. Be sure hats and any head gear fit comfortably and are not too big.
Choose brightly colored costumes and accessories, and be sure they are flame resistant.
Add reflective tape or stickers to ensure your child can easily be seen.
Kids 12 and under should be accompanied by an adult.
Kids with mobile devices should keep them in their possession but not use them unless there is an emergency. Consider turning on location services.
Before eating treats, parents should inspect them. Discard anything that's slightly or not completely wrapped.

Calling All Vendors! Fall Festival is Oct. 26th

Mark your calendar! The City’s Annual Fall Festival, hosted by the Parks and Recreation Department, is set for Saturday, October 26th from 6 to 11 p.m. at the Margate Sports Complex, 1695 Banks Road.

Each year, thousands of Margate residents - and visitors from our neighboring cities - make their way to the Margate Sports Complex for an evening of family fun. Festival-goers will enjoy a concert, and seasonal activities such as a not-so-scary Haunted House created by the Margate Police and Fire Explorers, line dancing, pony rides, a petting zoo, costume contests for all ages, pumpkin carving contests (bring your own, already-carved pumpkin), scarecrow building contest, and interactive programs for young children. Arts and craft vendors will showcase their wares and food vendors will be on-site to satisfy your taste buds.

Prescription Drug Take Back on October 26th

Prescription Drug Take Back on Oct. 26th

On Saturday, October 26th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. bring your unused or unwanted prescription medications to Walgreens located at 3000 N. State Road 7, for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

Open to the public, this free event allows participants to safely dispose of unused, expired and unwanted medications in its original container with the prescription label removed. Acceptable medications include: Prescription and over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and pet medicine. For a list of acceptable medications, please visit the DEA drug take back website.
