Fall Festival is Saturday, Oct. 26th

Come dressed in your best Halloween costume for a chance to win great prizes at the City of Margate’s popular Fall Festival.


The Fall Festival is set for Saturday, October 26, 2019 from 6-11 p.m. at the Margate Sports Complex, 1695 Banks Road.

This “FREE” family oriented event will have plenty of activities for everyone. There will be a concert featuring the Rodeo Clowns Band, a Haunted House created by the Margate Police and Fire Explorers, line dancing, pony rides, a petting zoo, costume contests for all ages, carved pumpkin contests (bring your own, already-carved pumpkin), scarecrow building contest, interactive programs for young children, and craft and food vendors.

Gift card prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place winners for each contest. For more information, go to margatefl.com/fallfestival.

Prescription Drug Take Back on Oct. 26th 

On Saturday, October 26th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. bring your unused or unwanted prescription medications to Walgreens located at 3000 N. State Road 7, for  National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. 

Open to the public, this free event allows participants to safely dispose of unused, expired and unwanted medications in its original container with the prescription label removed. Acceptable medications include: Prescription and over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and pet medicine. For a list of acceptable medications, please visit the DEA drug take back website.

Trunk or Treat on October 31st

The Margate Police Department & Fire Rescue Department are teaming up to host the 2nd Annual Trunk or Treat! This SPOOKtacular event will take place between 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. at City Hall, 5790 Margate Boulevard.

This year the Trunk or Treat event will start at our Margate-Coconut Creek Fire Rescue Fire Station 18, located at 5785 Park Dr. There will be two haunted houses at the fire station; one will be suitable for the little ones, and the other will be more suitable for the older kids! 

Join us for trunk-or-treating at the City Hall parking lot where our trunks will be open and full of treats! This event will be held on Halloween, so make sure we're your first stop of the night! 

Veterans Day is November 11th

Veterans Day Ceremony on Nov. 11th

The City of Margate will host its annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Monday, November 11th beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, located at 7044 N.W. 1st Street.

Join us as we honor our military veterans for their dedicated and loyal service to our country. We’ll salute all of the men and women who have fought for our country’s freedom.

Winners of the City’s Veterans Day essay contest will read their essays and be recognized during the ceremony.

Refreshments will be provided. The ceremony is free and open to the public. Immediately following the ceremony, the City will host a ribbon cutting of the new restroom building at the park.
