Fire Department Extrication Team Wins Big

Congrats to the Fire Department

Congratulations are in order for the Margate-Coconut Creek Fire Department (MCCFD) vehicle extrication team. Last weekend, the team competed in the North American Vehicle Rescue Association (NAVRA) Extrication Challenge. The team faced two different extrication challenges over the three-day competition. 

The MCCFD "Junkyard Dogs" finished 3rd place in the Medical category for providing the best medical care to the patient, 2nd place in Technical category for excelling in proper tool use, and 1st place overall for Incident Commander. The team finished 2nd place overall in the limited scenario and 1st place overall in the unlimited scenario. The Junkyard Dogs will be representing the United States in the 2020 World Rescue Challenge in Miami. 

Reminder: Utility Billing Moving to DEES

Utility Billing Moving to DEES

Please be aware that as of Monday, December 23rd, utility billing customers who prefer to pay their bill in person, or by using the drive-up drop box, must make their payment at the DEES Building located at 901 NW 66th Avenue. 

The Utility Billing office in City Hall will permanently close as of 6 p.m. on Friday, December 20th. The drive-up drop box, which will be relocated to the DEES parking lot, will not be available on Friday, December 20th.

For available payment options during the transition, please go to the Utility Billing Division webpage. The Utility Billing Division's new location will be open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the drop box will be available 24/7.

FREE Showerheads and Faucet Aerators

In an effort to save water, money and the environment, the City of Margate provides free, high-efficiency water faucet aerators and showerheads to qualifying residential customers. You can pick up your water-conserving devices Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. at the Department of Environmental & Engineering Services Administration Building located at 901 NW 66th Avenue. Winter Festival on December 13th

Winter Festival Set for December 13th

The City of Margate, in partnership with the Margate Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), will host its annual Winter Festival on Friday, December 13th from 6 to 10 p.m. The event will be located along Margate Boulevard between US 441/SR 7 and NW 58th Avenue. 

This free family-friendly event will include real “Florida Style” snow, rides for the children, arts and crafts activities, local group performances, a craft fair, food vendors, and pictures with Santa (bring your own camera). 

Please be advised that Margate Boulevard (from US 441/SR 7 to NW 58th Avenue) will be closed from approximately 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. on December 13th.
