Precautionary Boil Water Notice
A Precautionary Boil Water Notice has been issued for residents and businesses in the City of Margate and a small portion of Coconut Creek (all areas south of Coconut Creek Parkway and Coconut Creek High School).
This morning, during routine testing and exercising of the Emergency Power Generator System at the Water Treatment Plant, a temporary power outage of the Plant’s high service pumps resulted in a momentary drop in pressure below the 20 psi regulatory limit. In accordance with FDEP protocols, the City of Margate is issuing a Precautionary Boil Water Notice to all residences and businesses within the City’s water service area.
This is a mandatory notice in accordance with the requirement of Florida Administrative Code and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP).
This notice will remain in effect until bacteriological surveys show the water is safe to drink.
People in the affected areas are urged to boil water for one minute before using it to drink, cook, make ice, brush teeth or wash dishes.
