City Commission Meeting is tonight

Mayor and Vice Mayor to be Sworn In at Tonight's City Commission Meeting

Please join us this evening at the City Commission Meeting for the swearing-in of the City's Mayor and Vice Mayor. Mayor Tommy Ruzzano and Vice Mayor Arlene Schwartz were appointed by the City Commission at the last meeting.

The Meeting will take place tonight, Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, 5790 Margate Boulevard. Click here to review the meeting agenda.

City Commission Meetings are broadcast live on the City’s local access channel, Comcast Channel 78. Meetings normally take place the first Wednesday of the month beginning at 6:30 p.m. and the third Wednesday of the month beginning at 7 p.m. (Meeting dates are occasionally different. Please check website for dates.)

Winter Festival on December 13th

Winter Festival is December 13th

The City of Margate's popular Winter Festival is less than two weeks away, and the excitement is building! This year, the Festival will feature a Snow Village with snow tubing slides for all ages.

The Winter Festival will take place on Friday, December 13th from 6 to 10 p.m. The event will be located along Margate Boulevard between US 441/SR 7 and NW 58th Avenue. 


This free family-friendly event, which is hosted by the Margate Parks and Recreation Department and the Margate Community Redevelopment Agency, will include real “Florida Style” snow, rides for the children, arts and crafts activities, local group performances, a craft fair, food vendors, and pictures with Santa (bring your own camera). 

Food and craft vendors are welcome. Advanced registration is required. To register as a vendor, download the vendor application at margatefl.com/winterfestival, contact the Parks and Recreation Department at (954) 972-6458 or email parksrec@margatefl.com (registration fees apply).


Holiday Decorating Contest Deadline is December 6th

Last call for Holiday Decorating Contest entries! The deadline for the City's Holiday Decorating Contest is Friday, December 6th, so submit your entry now for a chance to win a gift card and be named “Best Decorated” home or business.

If your home is decorated with bright lights and holiday displays, and you've gone over the top with spreading cheer with your family, friends and neighbors, then click here to complete the application. 

Entrants will be notified of the date of judging and the requirements by email. First, second and third place winners will be recognized at a City Commission Meeting.
