Daniel J. Agami Bridge to remember soldier with Margate ties

News and Announcements Posted on December 22, 2025

A state bridge that connects Margate to neighboring cities is now named for a fallen soldier.

U.S. Army SPC Daniel Agami, who attended the Hebrew Academy in Margate in elementary school, was killed with four other soldiers in a Humvee while patrolling Adhamiyah, Iraq, on June 21, 2007. He was 25 years old.

On Dec. 16, 2025, he was remembered by his parents, siblings, and a fellow soldier for his compassion, strength, love of America, and character during a formal naming ceremony, a joint effort by three cities, Broward County, and the state of Florida.

The bridge along State Road 7 over Sample Road is now named the SPC Daniel J. Agami Bridge.

The bridge, said his sister Shaina Agami, is symbolic of connection. The bridge physically connects Margate, Coconut Creek, and Coral Springs, but Daniel himself was a bridge whose light touched everyone who knew him.
