- Silver Telly Award: The City of Margate and the Margate CRA won a 2023 Telly Award under the products and services category for the "What We Are Thankful For in Our Margate" video series. The Telly Awards is the world's largest honor for video and television content across all screens.
- Silver Davey Award: The City of Margate and the Margate CRA won a 2022 Silver Davey Award for the viral video campaign "It's Margate Delish." The international Davey Awards honor the achievements of the "Creative Davids" who derive their strength from big ideas rather than stratospheric budgets.
- Bronze Telly Award: The City of Margate and the Margate CRA won a 2022 Bronze Telly Award under the food and beverage category for the viral video campaign "It's Margate Delish." The Telly Awards is the world's largest honor for video and television content across all screens.
- 2022 Roy F. Kenzie Award: The Margate CRA won this award for Planning Studies for the Margate CRA Building Design Regulations. The Roy F. Kenzie Awards celebrate Florida's most innovative and effective redevelopment programs.
- Better Buildings Goal Achiever Award: The City of Margate earned the Better Buildings Goal Achiever Award from the Department of Energy for reducing the City’s overall energy use intensity by 21.3%. The City has achieved and exceeded its 2023 goal of reducing energy use by 20%.
- Granicus Digital Efficiency Award: The City of Margate was named one of three nationwide winners of the 2019 Granicus Digital Efficiency Award. The award recognizes organizations that serve as models in government efficiency — from reducing paper use to streamlining labor-intensive processes.
- Go.Verizon.com: In April 2019, the City of Margate was ranked the 37th best city to start a small business. View the report.
- National Council for Home Safety and Security: The City of Margate was ranked the 28th Safest City in Florida by the National Council for Home Safety and Security, Alarms.org. (February 2019)
- 4th Safest City in Florida: Margate was named one of the top 5 safest cities in Florida by SafeHome.org. (December 2017)
- In 2017, the Margate Police Department completed its re-accreditation with the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFLEA). The Department has been accredited with CFLEA since 1997 and was first accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies in 1994.
- 2017 Florida Cup: The Margate-Coconut Creek Fire Department’s Advanced Life Support (ALS) team won the Florida Cup, making this the 3rd time the Team won the Cup in six years.
- Tree City USA: Margate has been named a Tree City USA community by the Arbor Day Foundation to honor its commitment to community forestry. Margate has received this national recognition for 23 straight years.
- Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting: Margate has received this award for 27 years in recognition of its comprehensive annual financial reports.
- Value Penguin: Margate was ranked number 5 in the Top 10 Safest Places to Live (2016)
- National Association of Town Watch, National Winner: The Margate Police Department was selected by the National Association of Town Watch as the 2015 National Award winner for its 32nd Annual National Night Out event. MPD placed first overall for the State of Florida and 7th overall within our population category.
